Kajiura Yuki

Swayed by the sound of a violin that tells the sorrow of a princess who has lost her memories. Under the spell of the violin, I followed the sound of her sorrowful cry and I wanted to lure the darkness of nights just to find her feathers, her memories. With the tune of the piano, I feel that I wanted to fight for her, and to cross the fury seas, to go through the blazing hot fires and the coldest days of winter, for the sake of her. To bring back her memories, her smiles, her laughter, and most importantly the person of whom she is.

Mei-Chan No Shitshuji

Just imagine someone cooks for you, for breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner... Imagine that someone prepares your bath and checks the temperature of water before you take your bath... Imagine that someone cleans your room and washes your clothes, and does the daily house chores... Someone that serves you as young lady... And the person is a handsome young man, a butler, like that in Mei-Chan No Shitshuji (Mei-Chan's Butler).

I'm having my holiday now, and feeling so restless and bored, I keep surfing the net for either two things; playing Millie in Pet Society Facebook or reading some random news about the issues nowadays and the entertainment world. And yet those didn't satisfy me so I happened to read the charts for top dramas recently. And at no. 2 it is Mei-Chan's Butler. Honestly, it is a really good drama and for those who seek a drama that has romance and comedy genres, I recommend you to watch this one.

RESCUE the SURVIVOR

Kattun and DBSK released their lastest singles for oricon chart on the same day, if I'm not mistaken on the 11th March last week. Finally, Kattun popped up as being number one the chart, while DBSK got the third place. I felt really happy as a Kattun's fan, but felt a bit disappointed and a bit glad for DBSK being number three. Anyway, well done to DBSK as they really worked hard to survive in Jpop industry. It's not easy to get o the top 5 places in oricon chart in Japan.

Kattun's latest single was 'Rescue', and DBSK's was 'Survivor'. "Don't you think it's a coincidence?" asked my friend Joyce. Yes it is. Rescuing the survivor...

Recently, I managed to view the latest music videos from both groups. And I found some similarities:

None Is Left Behind

Life seems so busy lately, but yet I managed to find time to watch Nakamaru's first drama, RESCUE. The first two episodes are okay *I wont spoil the drama*, but in the end of episode 2, something had happened that triggered my curiousity and made me feeling uneasy. Nakamaru played a role of a cadet of the Super Ranger Orange team in Yokohama. Basically, he has to train himself hard so that there'd be no mistakes during saving lives. In that drama he's called Kitajima Daichi, a very passionate young man towards saving lives, love and respect his friends and their dreams, a risk taker, and yet very emotional and stubborn. Masu from NewS also in it, his character is that type that doesn't like to create troubles, but will involve to settle things down. Apparently, his collegues always quarrel.

There is one scene in the drama that I'm really impressed. Nakamaru's friend Koga is the weakest and the smallest cadet in the team. He always makes mistakes and causes his teammates to be punished, so they're punished to do 200 sit ups day by day. And the finally his teammates cannot stand it anymore except for Maru. In that particular scene, Koga was almost kicked out and the choice was actually in Maru's hand. Maru cannot decide whether to follow his other teammate's advice to kick out Koga or to let Koga stay but do more punishment everyday. Then he finally says: "We're in a team and no one should be left behind!" It is actually important not to leave someone behind no matter how a troublemaker that person is.

Well, I've just finished watching episode 3. Gosh! I cried a bucket full of tears! Waaaaaahhhhh... I couldn't help myself seeing Maru cries in the drama like a little kid, and also Masu. Gladly that the song RESCUE from KATTUN was played in the end of the drama. The song made me feel better now... Isk... Isk...

Happy Cows

Yesterday afternoon, I was wondering around the foyer in the Science block, while waiting for a friend to get changed. To kill my time, I watched the news on BBC. I found the most amusing headline yesterday, 'the happy cows'.

According to the latest research from the Newscastle University, giving a name to a cow will make that cow feels happy. So that cow can produce more milk. Hahaha!

"Cattle that are named and treated with a "more personal touch" can increase milk yields by up to 500 pints a year. " - According to BBC.

So cow has a personality too like us humans!!!

Below are taken from the BBC homepage:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Own personality'

"They aren't just our livelihood, they're part of the family," he said.

"We love our cows here at Eachwick and every one of them has a name.

"Collectively we refer to them as 'our ladies' but we know every one of them and each one has her own personality."

Dr Catherine Douglas, who led the research, said: "What our study shows is what many good, caring farmers have long since believed.

"Our data suggests that, on the whole, UK dairy farmers regard their cows as intelligent beings capable of experiencing a range of emotions.

"Placing more importance on knowing the individual animals and calling them by name can, at no extra cost to the farmer, also significantly increase milk production."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So treat the cow as your friend. Hehe :D

A Big Grin

Once upon a time my sister told me this joke. It is about a guy, boyfriend BF, and his girlfriend who were dining in a restaurant. So here is the the way it goes:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BF: Could you please pass me the honey, Honey~~~???

Everyone in the restaurant stared at them and thought how sweet the guy was.

BF: Could you please pass me the sugar, Sweetie~~~??

Another glare from the other customers, and they were impressed by his naturally gentle attitude. And...

BF
: Could you please pass me the pork, PIG?!

Everyone's jaw dropped.

Community Service (Part 2 - Final)

Although it had been almost a year that I left the Vale of Evesham, I just could not let the entry 'Community Service (Part 1)' unfinish. So I decided to write more on this. So here is my adventure:

Vale of Evesham is a school for children with learning disabilities. Some of them have autism, down syndrome, lack of hearing ability, lack of mental ability (believe me there is a threshold level for mental abilty of certain age group. Those below this level will be categorized as people of learning disabilities), inability to talk, emotional, behavioural and psychiatric disorders and some are very violence if triggered unintentionally, and etcetra.

This is what I got from a leaflet:  "A child with a general learning disablitiy finds it more difficult to learn, understand and do things compared to other children of the same age. The degree of disability can vary greatly. Some children will never learn to speak and even when they grow up will need help with looking after themselves - feeding, dressing or going to the toilet. On the other hand, the disability may be mild and the child will grow up to become independent."

When I had entered the room, all of children stared at me, wondering who the Asian girl might be. I believed that there's no Asian at all in that school. There were seven children in Class 2; four girls and three boys. A young sweet girl greeted me with a big smile on her face, she's one of them. Her sincere smiles melted my heart. She asked me in a very polite manner, "Hello Miss, I'm Susan. What's your name?"

To me Susan looked very fine, like the kids in my school, until I learnt why did she enroll in this school. I decided not to tell about anyone's learning disabilities, as I would like to keep them to myself and respect the childrens' rights.

There was a boy, drawing on a piece of paper with colour pencils. I approached him and tried to see what he had drawn. He looked at me, then ignored me immediately. On that piece of paper, he drew sketches of things I could not understand. He was pretty creative. Later that day, he introduced himself to me as Josh. Then, he showed me his piece of writing that he had written days before: " My name is Joshua. I'm in Class 2. I have green eyes..." Josh is a genius in that class. He has massive of ideas in his little head. I was truly impressed by him. I thought he should be learning in a normal school. But it was better for him to be there as he has a disability as well. It was better for him to be there so that he would be socially accepted in that school...

There was not only a teacher in the class. There were four teachers in total. The Belgian lady I nicknamed the 'the main teacher', and the rest three I called 'the helpers'. It was pretty awkward to have more than a teacher in the class. But then I realised that it's important to have the 'helpers' around because the children could not understand an order at all once said. And I was the fifth helper.

We communicated with the kids verbally and sometimes we used body languages and pictures. Those really helped. I managed to learn some body languages. To say "More please", simply clench your right hand and hit your flat left hand. This action means "more". Then make your right hand flat and touch your lips. After that put your right hand forward as if you're going to ask for something. These actions mean "Please". If you do these, one after another, then these actions mean "More Please". There are few more body languages I learnt but I could not be bothered to put them here. Sorry...

I had to spend five days in Evesham, but of course, I did not stay there for the nights. Below are the things I did with the class:

Monday: Introducing myself to the class, helping the children with spelling and so on.

Tuesday: Having a picnic by the river Evesham with the class and walking in the town with the class. We waved and shouted "Hello"  at a boat passing by along the river.

Wednesday: Going swimming and I almost drowned. Honestly, I did not know how to swim. Miss Webb laughed at me for this.

Thursday: Learning French and having ice cream with the class. I was a given a French first name as Adele. My favourite French surname is Fernanda. *Feeling proud* So I self-declared that my name in French is Adele Fernanda.  How sweet... Haha! :D Also, I made a paper boat for Joshua too. He loved it and kept it somewhere in his bag.

Friday: Playing with the kids in the playing ground. Basically we played  tags and football. I acted like a kid when I played with them. *Rolling eyes*

Time went by pretty fast. Most of the kids did not know that Friday was my last day to help in that school. Only Andy said goodbye to me. *Sigh* I wish them the best of luck in their life. And I'll be missing that happy school. Bye-bye Joshua, Susan, Andy, Alex and.... Ugh... *Blinking eyes*. And the rest. I wish I could learn their names again.

What do I think about my work in Evesham?

The world is wide and large. You cannot see the whole world with one eye and only choose the best. You must see with both of your eyes and see the things beyond what you can see and accept the worst. There is nothing perfect in this world.

Helping the children have a big impact in my life. The experience taught me to respect every individuals without looking at their weaknesses and their totally unacceptable behaviours. There is no point to compare and argue on one's weakness either physically or mentally or socially. People have their own difficulties. It's easy to say mean things about an individual but once you learn about it and realise that you're in the wrongs, what will you do?

In my personal opinion, it is much better to forgive one's unacceptable attitude and accept it for who it is. However, don't forget to teach and correct that individual slowly.

The memory that I have for the Vale of Evesham will be forever in my heart. It is the only reason that made me to be a deep thinker, a bit more wiser, a bit more generous and gentle, and a bit more calm. Unlike the self-fish and bad tempered me before.

Thank you very much Vale of Evesham.

Community Service (Part 1)

I didn't expect the place I was sent to for my Community Service week. I didn't expect that I would stay in school, instead of staying somewhere else in UK. However, I was glad that Kike and Christine would be going with me to the same place. We went to Vale of Evesham.

I was late on the first day and Christine got il. Therefore, only Kike and me went to Evesham, with Miss Webb as our driver of the week. I was wondering who and what might I face afterwards. Listening to the rock music didn't help to eliminate my fears. Nothing could stop my mind from wondering around. Then, there we were at the Vale of Evesham. Knowing nothing in heads what we should be doing, we just spontaneously asked permission to get into the school. The school has a very high technology devices, and there's only one way out to the real world - the main entrance.

I stepped into the school, wearing a visitor badge, and had thousands of repeatedly questions, " What am I doing here?" A lady of an average age welcomed us and took us to the classrooms. She gave us two choices, nursery or 8 years old children. Kike said she could not cope with bigger kids, leaving me behind with only one option - the 8 years old children, preferably known as Class 2. There, my real story began. An adventure to the world beyond the perfect mankind world.

Farewell...

15th June 2008, the day finally came. Arina left UK on this date, but, unfortunately I couldn't say my last good bye to her. I'm missing her so much now.

19th June is coming, I'll be feeling unhappy by that day again. Abi and Rahmat are going to leave me again for Brunei. Although, there is a high chance for me to meet them again since we're Bruneians, but I thought that, we would not have plenty of time to see each other again. Unlike, in UK, we can see each other every day, but then those were just sweet memories.

20th June 2008, that would be the last day I could see Lizzy Bennet. She said that she's going to change school to King's College Worcester because she felt unhappy in MSJ. Some of the girls in MSJ dislike her for no reason. To me, she's just like them, nothing more or less. She's a happy-go-lucky girl, not that intelligent, and loved by teachers. We are all loved by teachers.

4th July 2008. The last day of school. Even though I'll be saying goodbye to everyone and wishing them a happy holiday, I will not be excited as they will be. I might see my friends in my batch again, but... Adibah will be going to leave the school too. She's a nice senior if you know her well. An open minded person, doesn't even care about wrongs and rights, but she's... Wise. Yup, that's the word that describes her best. She has a funny and tough personality, loves to talk a lot and gives a lot of comments on everything. She's a true genius... In cooking and philosophy. Even she isn't good in Science but her explanation really awed the most intelligent person in Science. A convincing person. Hopefully we meet again in the future, in London... I guess... That's the place only where all Bruneians will meet. Geesh how small the world is... Haha! ;p

The real Duke of Edinburgh expedition will be held in one week time. OooMeeeGeee... I'm seriously gonna kill my self throughout the whole expedition. Cannot believe that I'll be going to experience another sharp and evil stare from Muni. Thinking of it gives me a lot of goosebumps... Burrr *Shivering*... To think very carefully, although I might die from exhaustion, by the end of expedition there will be another farewell. To the Bruneians in my batch. Although we might encounter  each other, by chance only, the probability that we might stay in touch with each other is only 0.001%. This is my assumption: We bruneians meet each other everyday, so we want to have a long break from seeing each other. So it's better not to meet for a long period of time. And by the time fate brings us together again we'll see each other with a big grin on face like the smile of a Cheshire cat.

Anyway, sayonara minna... Senpai, nakama... And whoever... My budinan - dead already... How sad life is. Hopefully we don't meet each other sarcastically saying. Kyaaahahahaha!

Asthma

Recently, I've been reading the 'Flipside' magazine July 2008's edition after I had my lunch. There are many interesting articles inside it. One of it is about Hay Fever and allergies.

I learned that, for instance a person who's allergic to dust (harmless), its immune system will overreact over a such small thing. The immune system will release a protein known as Immunoglobin E (IgE) to 'kill' the dust particles. So I read again, as I was amazed about the fact of the immune system. According to the article, increasing in the amount of IgE  will trigger the formation of histamine, a chemical that causes tissue inflammation. In simpler saying, the tissues swell up. This can cause breathlessness, because the tissue surrounding the airway will swell and block the airway.

Reading such article has brought me back to my past, when I was about 2 years old. By that time, I suffered from asthma, but I still couldn't figure what I was allergic to. I would get breathless when it was midnight, never during the day. Source of allergy was yet again unknown. I thought it would probably dust. But every time I was breathless, my dad who was tired of sending me to hospital would ask me to inhale the fresh cold air from the air conditioner. So all the night I would stand under the air conditioner, trying to slow down my heavy fast breath, until my asthma was gone. It really did help, at least it helped to reduce the cost of fuel going from home to hospital and vice versa. Although, it helped and reduced it, but it could not stop the attack. Two years after that, my mom fed me with smoked camel's meat that was especially imported from Mecca. And after that, the asthma never attacked me again. Miracles? It sounded like one.

Unlike me, my little brother was allergic to citrus fruit. If he smelled any of it, his immune system would go wild. My mom did the same technique as she did to me, teaching him to control breathing when the asthma attacked and also fed him with the smoked meat that she had once given to me. None of these worked. So feeling desperate, because asthma could take life, she went to Kuala Belait, to meet this Chinese doctor. He was really famous for curing asthma. He massaged my brother using egg albumen. He spread the egg albumen over my brother's back and massaged him, pressing his fingers hard and carefully. After a while, something weird happened. Fine little black hairs came out of my brother's back. The hairs were not originally from brother's back, they were from somewhere. So the Chinese doctor wiped out the hairs, and many days later, my brother was able to eat an orange( a citrus fruit). The asthma is not gone, but remain dormant. It could be triggered one day, but I'm not sure how.

Some of the techniques cannot be explained scientifically, but believe that miracles can happen. So for asthmatic people, I think they should try to control breathing immediately when the first sign shows itself. Therefore, you could manage to control your asthma even without your inhaler. But if, your body starts to swell up, don't hesitate to use the inhaler, or else you'd lose your life. Train your immune system by doing that, and focus your mind to slow the ventilation rate.

Another thing I forgot to mention, the Chinese doctor said one thing that you definitely should avoid - a fish called 'grouper'. Never eat it, once and for all! He said that, although we may have another allergies, but our asthma would definitely be triggered immediately if we just have a bite on the grouper. So beware!
